championが特許を取得し、キング・オブ・スウェットと呼ばれる契機となったのがリバースウィーブ製法。
発案されたきっかけはある一つの会話からだった。
それは「洗うと縮んで裾が短くなってしまうのはなんとかならないか？」と言うもの。
それなら、と生地の方向を縦横逆にし、更にサイドにリブを入れる事で横方向への縮みにも対応させた。
洗いを入れたら、横に縮みが出て体にフィットします。また、サイドにリブを入れる事で、生地が馴染みます。縦の縮みは出なく解消されたスウェットです。
リバースウェーブの名前の由来は、縦糸が横に走っている事から、名付けられました。

The Reverse Weave construction—patented by Champion—is what earned the brand the title “King of Sweatshirts.”
The idea originated from a single conversation.
Someone asked, “Is there any way to prevent the hem from shrinking and getting shorter after washing?”
In response, the fabric’s weave direction was reversed, and ribbing was added to the sides to prevent horizontal shrinkage.
After washing, the fabric shrinks horizontally to fit the body. Additionally, the side ribs help the fabric conform to the body. This sweatshirt eliminates vertical shrinkage.
The name “Reverse Weave” comes from the fact that the warp threads run horizontally.
No other sweatshirt possesses such originality, which is why Champion is often synonymous with Reverse Weave.
