championが特許を取得し、キング・オブ・スウェットと呼ばれる契機となったのがリバースウィーブ製法。
発案されたきっかけはある一つの会話からだった。
それは「洗うと縮んで裾が短くなってしまうのはなんとかならないか？」と言うもの。
それなら、と生地の方向を縦横逆にし、更にサイドにリブを入れる事で横方向への縮みにも対応させた。
洗いを入れたら、横に縮みが出て体にフィットします。また、サイドにリブを入れる事で、生地が馴染みます。縦の縮みは出なく解消されたスウェットです。
リバースウェーブの名前の由来は、縦糸が横に走っている事から、名付けられました。
これほどオリジナリティーを持つスウェットは他になく、championと言えばリバースウィーブとすら呼ばれる理由です。

Reverse Weave Construction
Champion patented the Reverse Weave construction, which cemented its reputation as the King of Sweatshirts.
The idea originated from a simple conversation.
Someone asked, “Can't we fix the problem where washing causes shrinkage and makes the hem shorter?”
The solution? Reverse the fabric direction vertically and horizontally, then add side ribs to counteract horizontal shrinkage.
After washing, it shrinks horizontally to fit the body. The side ribs also help the fabric conform. This eliminates vertical shrinkage, creating a sweat that stays true to size.
The name “Reverse Weave” comes from the warp threads running horizontally.
No other sweat shirt boasts such originality, which is why Champion is synonymous with Reverse Weave.
